Camp Chattahoochee, Georgia
This is our second year at this beautiful, rustic location. Due to the higher elevation and anticipated mild weather, most activities—archery, canoeing, fishing, swimming, field games, hiking, music, orienteering, team challenges, Christian Living, arts and crafts, treasure hunt, fireside sing-alongs and more—will take place outdoors!
The camp is located on 150 beautiful acres in the North Georgia mountains near the Chattahoochee National Forest. Gently rolling terrain, wooded trails, a 15-acre lake, warm days and cool nights add up to one of the best camp locations in all of Georgia!
It is also home to a 15-acre horse park. Though we will not be using this facility again this year, there will be opportunities to visit, observe training sessions and pet some of these wonderful creatures of God.
Transportation
Campers: Plan to arrive between 3 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, and depart after dinner and presentations (approximately 7 p.m.) on Wednesday, July 18. Please note that we will not be able to accept campers before 3 p.m. on July 15, since we need the time on Sunday to conduct our staff training before campers arrive. We must have quality time in order to provide the best staff team to care for our campers, so thank you in advance for your cooperation in this regard.
Staff
The YWCO staff will provide all of the meals. We will need counselors and assistant counselors, plus staff for all other activities, including certified lifeguards for the swimming pool and lakefront activities and nursing staff for the health center.
The Jefferson, Georgia, congregation welcomes all Chattahoochee staff members to attend Sabbath services on July 14 at 2:30 p.m. A “pot-blessing” meal will be provided by our gracious hosts, followed by a brief staff orientation before driving up to Camp Chattahoochee that evening. On Sunday, we will complete staff training, registration, check-in and area preparation before the campers arrive. More details to follow.
