Strong Rock Camp, Georgia

The summer of 2012 finds the Southeast region with the same great location, Strong Rock Camp. Located in beautiful northeast Georgia, this camp is located on the edge of the beautiful Chattahoochee National Forest and is less than two hours northeast from Atlanta.

Strong Rock Camp is only six years old and is a high-quality facility on a well-maintained 40 acres. The facility centers around a multistory wooden hall that seats 300 campers and staff for meals. There are two lakes, an archery and riflery range, an indoor gym with a climbing wall, basketball and a stage for performances. There are also new residences for campers and staff. Please go to www.strongrockcamp.com to see the beauty of this facility.

Camp this year will have many of the traditional teen camp activities along with some new ones. We plan to offer basketball, flag football, speedaway, climbing, archery or riflery, canoeing, swimming, “the blob” and dance. A new activity we are considering is gaga ball. Of course, these activities are secondary to creating the godly environment for our campers. A large portion of the teen camp experience will be Christian Living classes and weaving God’s Word and God’s principles into our everyday life at Strong Rock.

Strong Rock Camp is a beautiful camp setting where we can focus on God and relationships and create the environment that foreshadows of the Kingdom of God. There will be plenty of free time to interact with friends and develop a stronger relationship with God. We will also plan an evening activity of roller-skating and an afternoon floating down a nearby river on tubes.

Dates and times

Staff members should plan to attend the July 28th Sabbath service in the north Atlanta, Georgia, area. Sabbath services will focus on Christian living and service at camp. Official on-site staff orientation and training will start that evening at Strong Rock Camp. Specific details will be sent later to all staff members. Staff training and orientation will continue at the camp Sunday, July 29, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Camper registration will be conducted from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 29. Checkout and departure for everyone will be 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5. We will need to completely vacate the facility before noon that day.

Transportation

The Atlanta airport (ATL) will be the best choice for those flying to camp this summer. We will provide transportation from the airport to camp and back. Staff members should plan their travel to be in attendance for afternoon Sabbath services on July 28. Campers’ flights should arrive in the late morning or early afternoon on Sunday, July 29. Airport departures on Sunday, Aug. 5, should be mid-morning and no later than early afternoon.

Staff needs

This year we need staff members holding current certifications in areas such as camp nurse, archery, lifeguarding and riflery. Several staff members are needed who hold current certification in first aid and CPR. Additionally, we need experienced adults who can supervise activities and conduct classes such as dance and photography. Devoted counselors and assistant counselors are the vital connection with the campers. Questions about specific staff needs should be directed to the camp director.

We ask your prayers for Strong Rock Camp this year. God has blessed us again with a very beautiful location for camp in the Southeast region. However, it is the people and Spirit of God that make for a successful camp. Join us in prayer for a wonderful experience of a foretaste of the Kingdom of God on earth for our teens.
