Challenger Camp

TN

Young Adults…
Are you looking for something to challenge you—physically, mentally and spiritually? Consider the Challenger Program.

What is the Challenger Program?
Sponsored by the Church of God, a Worldwide Association, the Challenger Program invites a small group of young adults—all committed to God’s laws and values—to an inspiring and challenging venue to train with a team of ministers for about a week. The program emphasizes preparation for future challenges and service opportunities.

Why do we have a Challenger Program?
Each Challenger session takes place in an outdoor setting where lessons are learned while stepping outside your comfort zone and handling a variety of challenges. In addition to spiritual instruction, you will learn various outdoor adventure skills that will translate into valuable lessons you can draw upon for the rest of your life.

Who is able to participate in the Challenger Program?
Both married and single young adults (from 18 years old to mid-30s) may apply. Applicants must also meet health and fitness requirements for the program and be committed to thorough advance preparation. Are you:

  • Committed to God’s laws, values and Church?
  • Interested in growing spiritually?
  • Interested in developing some leadership skills?
  • Interested in serving others as a way of life?
  • Interested in maintaining good health and fitness?
  • If so, then perhaps the Challenger Program is for you.

Where is the Challenger Program?
The Challenger Program will be held in different locations each year. Having it in different locations opens up new opportunities and challenges. This year (2024) our base camp will be at Elkmont Campground in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, near Gatlinburg, TN.

When is the Challenger Program?
Each year the time of the program could change depending on the adventure. The dates for 2024 are June 23 to June 30.

Arrival - If you are flying, the closest airport is McGhee Tyson Airport in Alcoa, TN. Please book your arrival time for 1:00 p.m. or earlier on Sunday, June 23, and we will provide ground transportation to the campsite. If you are driving, specific directions will be sent by the director if you are accepted. Orientation and training will begin at 2:00 p.m. so plan your travel accordingly.

Departure - We need to be out of the campground by noon on Sunday, June 30, so if you are flying plan for a morning departure time.
