Activities are off to a great start at the Midwest Preteen Camp! The staff and campers are thoroughly enjoying the new camp facility with air-conditioned cabins, hotel rooms, cottages and dorms (most with bathrooms and showers inside too)! The feedback regarding the new camp facility has been overwhelmingly positive—they all seem to love it!
The weather was extremely nice for camper and staff arrivals, with temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s and with low humidity. This morning we started the day with heavy rain that started around 5 a.m. and lasted until around 11 a.m. We pivoted from holding a few morning classes outside on the lake and replaced them with a camp sing-along (with live guitars), karaoke and dorm charades. It was very bonding to have the teen staff and campers come on stage for the sing-along, and it was a great use of the new space. We were thankful to have the air-conditioned indoor auditorium with theater seating, perfect for such events.
The morning rain did not dampen the campers’ attitudes, and they are still having a blast! They are also enjoying our new activity—pickleball! Normal classes have resumed, and the forecast looks good for tomorrow. There is a possibility of rain on Wednesday morning, but we hope that all scheduled classes will continue as planned.
We have had a few splinters and some muscle cramps, but all in all, the campers and staff seem to be having a very enjoyable time. We appreciate the continued prayers!
