Unlike previous years where the ministerial and kitchen staff could access our facility on Saturday evening, we began our “journey” at Camp Harmony in Maryville, Tennessee, at approximately 9 a.m. on Sunday morning. With a new facility, we found a few challenges, but we were able to adjust and have everything prepared for the camper check-in at 3 p.m.
The day was quite hot and unusually humid for Tennessee, but cooler weather came in toward the evening. Today was an absolutely stunning day with sunshine and lower temperatures and humidity.
The feedback regarding this facility has been extremely favorable. The management utilizes this camp for weddings, as well as camps and other activities. It is rustic, but it’s in an area that abuts Chilhowee Mountain. Words can’t express the beauty of this camp, so I’ll count on the pictures to show you what we are enjoying. (I noticed that our Facebook site is up and running.)
We’ve had to deal with some insect pests, bumps and bruises, but all are enjoying the activities (arts and crafts, basketball, gaga ball, music, slip and slide, swimming and team challenge). The pool is the nicest that we’ve experienced in the Southeast. The food (under the supervision of Lewis and Annette Bryant) has again been rated top-notch by both campers and staff.
We are at a near-record 122 campers and staff (64 campers and 58 staff). The days are looking to be sunny and a bit warmer, and we are praying for the humidity to stay down. Thank you for your continued prayers.
