Arrowhead Update-2026

August 4, 2026

Greetings from 84 campers and 70 staff at Camp Arrowhead in Dalton, Ohio! Camp is off to a great start with activities running smoothly and God’s blessing obvious and abundant.

Before camp began, the forecast called for a significant chance of rain each day. At staff orientation I mentioned that we are okay with some rain, we just need to pray that it is well-timed so it doesn’t completely disrupt the schedule. A few hours later we got some rain—while the whole camp was gathered for camper orientation under the large pavilion where we were dry and cozy.

The skies cleared in time for our all-camp swim, and we’ve had beautiful sunny weather since! The forecasted rain has all but disappeared except for a chance around the end of camp of Wednesday. Daytime highs in the low 80s and nighttime lows in the mid-50s are making for very pleasant conditions.

Campers are enjoying the variety of activities, including a class called “Foundations of Friendship,” where they are doing some fun activities to practice skills in taking turns, sharing friends, including others, maintaining conversations and engaging in friendly competition. It has been a great addition to the program, teaching self-awareness and social skills in a fun way and helping campers (and staff!) practice using our eyes, heart and mind when interacting with others.

Of course, this has been applicable all around camp in the more traditional camp activities, like gaga ball, archery, field games, swimming and more. We’re all looking forward to another great day filled with fun, growth and sunshine!
