Camp Harmony: A Beautiful Start
June 16, 2026
I am grateful to share with you news of a wonderful start to 2026 Camp Harmony!
Over a week ago, a 70 to 90 percent chance of rain was forecast for this week. With the prayers of many, the forecast of rain dropped to 5 percent.
Sunday morning started with a light rain, but we managed to get everything set up in the lodge, and by the time the camp staff started arriving, the rain was gone.
Check-in went smoothly, and we started the evening with smiles and laughter as we rekindled our old friendships and made new ones. This year we have a lot of new staff and campers, and we are looking forward to getting to know them.
Once again, our kitchen crew opened up dinner brilliantly with brisket and chicken sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw and a salad bar that didn’t disappoint.
Monday brought the most beautiful day that I can ever remember for our Southeast preteen camp. Sunshine, mild temperatures and a cool breeze had us all thanking God for answering the prayers of so many who have been praying for all of our camps. We were stunned by the beautiful, cool, dry weather—a real blessing, as we’ve had a lot of humidity in eastern Tennessee since transitioning from spring.
This year we have 132 campers and staff—our largest group ever since our COGWA Southeast camps began in 2011!
Monday began with biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast. Paul Luecke starting out the Christian Living class with examples of how to “build on the right foundation,” using Lincoln Logs. Then the activities started, with swimming, slip and slide, archery, arts and crafts and gaga ball.
Tuesday the kids will use the climbing wall for the first time and do some orienteering along with the basic activities I’ve already mentioned.
Thank you for your continued prayers as we work to help God’s children to “build on the right foundation” and to establish and strengthen their relationship with God, staff and fellow campers.
