CYC Athens Update
July 28, 2025
A total of 93 campers and 66 staff are braving the sunny and humid East Texas summer heat for a fun-filled week of activities. No storms are forecast for this week, but it will be hot.
We started off with our traditional bunco mixer last night. Today was our first day of activities, and we’re off to a great start. We’ve got a good mix of indoor and outdoor activities, with most of our outdoor activities occurring in the morning with the exception of the water activities. The oldest boys’ and girls’ dorms are skiing, tubing and paddleboarding at a nearby lake today.
Our kitchen staff is filling our tummies very effectively; our staff is firing on all cylinders; reports from the counselors are positive about their dorms jelling; Tom Schultz (camp director for Camp Long) sent us the extra shirts we desperately needed; and the AC in the dorms is keeping us cool at night. What more could we ask?
Thank you for your prayers for God’s ongoing protection, blessing and guidance this week!
