Greetings from Camp Long!

We are off to a great start at Camp Long in southern South Carolina. This year we have 34 campers and 29 staff, and even though our numbers may be lower than we are used to, the smaller numbers make for a closer, more intimate camp.

Our first day and a half of camp have gone wonderfully well, despite the fact that we have been dealing with some extreme heat. High 90s and low 100s have already been felt. Monday evening we experienced a thunderstorm and a downpour, but none of our activities were affected. We are stressing hydration and taking frequent breaks to avoid heat stroke. We are expecting this same kind of weather for the rest of the week.

The camp theme is being well received. All of our Compass Checks, Christian Living classes and new Building Foundations class are stressing the importance of having the strong spiritual foundation that is vital to being a Christian.
