Lone Star Preteen Camp: Off to a Great Start

Greetings from Lake Whitney, northwest of Waco, Texas!

We are excited to share that Camp Lone Star is off to a wonderful start! We have 134 campers and 109 staff, and everyone arrived safely and ready for a great camp.

The weather has been clear, but we are under a heat advisory, with highs expected between 100 and 106 degrees throughout camp. We are taking hydration seriously. Coolers filled with ice and fluids are stationed throughout camp, and staff are making sure campers and staff alike are drinking plenty of water and taking breaks in the shade as needed. Please keep this in your prayers, that everyone stays safe and healthy in the heat.

Despite the temperatures, the kids are having a wonderful time! We’ve had a great mix of indoor and outdoor activities, including swimming, canoeing and kayaking, fishing and large inflatables down at the lake. The excitement, smiles and laughter have been wonderful to see, and the campers are clearly enjoying being together at camp.
