Midwest Preteen Camp Running Fine
July 1, 2025
Greetings from Williamsburg, Kansas
We are having a wonderful start to camp in rural Kansas, with 139 combined campers and staff—approximately 80 of whom are under the age of 14 (counting apprentice staff).
The weather has truly been ideal. At the start of check-in we had intermittent showers to cool things down, leading to high temps of 85 with sunshine and partial cloud cover. The forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday is sunny with highs of 85 and 87. Absolutely beautiful weather so far.
Activities ran smoothly on Monday with the enthusiasm running high for campers and staff. It is so enjoyable to see all the laughter and smiles! We had an evening swim for the teen staff (approximately 35 total). While the adult staff were observing their affable interactions, one made the comment, “Wow, you can tell they are a really close group and love each other!” I feel the same way about the adult staff’s positive chemistry, and it is easy to see that the campers are feeding off that constructive energy, while learning to “Seek First the Kingdom.” We hope this continues throughout the camp!
We’ve had no major issues to speak of, but we did have one of the three AC units in the dining hall stop running. This has caused the temperatures inside for meals to vary from 72-78 degrees (but still quite nice). The camp’s owners have been attentive to our needs and their AC mechanic will be out tomorrow morning to hopefully make the repair.
We appreciate your continued prayers for God’s blessing and guidance throughout the remainder of camp!
